Georgia: un diputado opositor le dio una trompada al líder de un partido oficialista

Más tarde, mientras legisladores y periodistas desalojaban el parlamento, el diputado que protagonizó el ataque fue recibido con vítores por los manifestantes apostados en las inmediaciones del edificio. Por su parte, el gobierno del primer ministro Irakli Kobakhidze considera además que la iniciativa promueve la rendición de cuentas. Dijo además “no estaba claro” por qué otros países se oponen.
No es la primera vez que la ley de agentes extranjeros produce tirantez en Georgia. El año pasado, la oposición y parte de la sociedad se manifestó en contra de esta propuesta legislativa por entenderla como una muestra de simpatía con Rusia. Insisten además en que la medida obstaculizaría el ingreso de Georgia a la Unión Europea. El Gobierno, por su parte, rechazó estas acusaciones y defendió que la propuesta serviría para simplemente tener un listado de organizaciones financiadas desde el extranjero.
La presidenta de Georgia, Salomé Zourabichvili, vetará la ley si es aprobada por el parlamento. Pero ese veto podría no ser duradero ya que el mandato de Zourabichvili termina este año y, según los cambios constitucionales de Georgia, el próximo presidente será nombrado por un colegio electoral que incluya a todos los miembros del parlamento.
